About
Who am I?
My name is Pablo Lillo Cea. I’m a father and a husband. I also share my home with a beautiful cat.
I told you she's beautiful.
At work, I’m a social scientist with a PhD in sociology of education from Uppsala University. In my dissertation, titled The World-Class Ordination, I developed a field theory approach to study global university rankings, focusing on its social origins and structuring properties from a critical perspective. Currently, I hold a postdoc position at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science, University of Borås, and a researcher position at the Department of Education, Uppsala University.
Also, I’m a free and open source software enthusiast and a self-hoster who enjoys building small, privacy-focused, efficient systems that I can understand and maintain (check out my project, fossforus.watch). I am also a TTRPG referee with a particular interest in the OSR style of playing. When the weather allows, I go out on my gravel bike or go out for a jog.
My gravel bike. I had a different one and a mountain bike. They were stolen.
Why this blog?
I’ve tried to keep a blog more times than I can count, and most attempts have faded the moment I focus on the thought that no one was reading. Still, I keep returning to the idea. This time, I’m trying something different: considering myself part of the audience. I’ve found out it’s quite fun writing things down and revisiting them months or even years down the road.
I’m keeping things simple. You’ll find three kinds of posts here:
- In – notes on things I’ve read, watched, or listened to;
- Out – things I make;
- On – reflections on whatever else is on my mind.
If anything here provokes a reaction, feel free to get in touch.
